CouchNotes, in one paragraph.

Everything below may be reused freely in coverage. For anything else: hello@couchnotes.app.

CouchNotes is a macOS app that turns therapy sessions into clinical notes without sending a second of audio to the cloud. Local AI models transcribe the session (or the therapist's dictated summary — clients are never recorded in that mode) and draft a SOAP, DAP, or BIRP note that the clinician reviews and finalizes; the audio is then deleted by default. While cloud AI scribes charge $39–99 monthly to process sessions on their servers, CouchNotes is a one-time $199 license with no account, no subscription, and no server side at all — unplug the Wi-Fi and it keeps working. It's an answer to the question therapists' clients actually ask: "who else hears this?" Nobody. It never leaves the Mac.

Founder note

"Every AI scribe asks therapists to upload the most confidential conversations that exist to someone else's servers, then points at a compliance badge. On-device AI made that architecture optional — so I'm building the version where the question doesn't come up. The session stays in the room; that's the product."
